Watching Sharks Swim For 10 Hours Is Your New Yule Log Tradition

Christmas has cozy fireplaces with crackling logs, now Shark Week has its own ‘yule log.’

Thanks to the Global FinPrint, the world’s largest shark and ray survey funded by the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, you can now finally watch what Shark Week has been missing all along — 10 soothing hours of sharks swimming by a GoPro on a coral reef.

The footage was compiled after the Global FinPrint team, led by Florida International University’s N. Frances Farabaugh, surveyed 35 reefs on 17 different islands and atolls in French Polynesia. After collecting over 2,500 hours of video (and that’s a conservative number) using baited remote underwater video surveys or BRUVs, we took an hour worth of incredible shark video and looped it 10 times for your viewing pleasure.

So sit back, put this YouTube clip on and feast your eyes on these remarkable creatures this week.
